People Were Helped

Harweyn Foundation, a non-profit, the brainchild of Somali refugees turned Somali-Americans, born out of the ingenuity of a mother and daughter who felt the irresistible urge to help people in need because they appreciate where they came from.

Harweyn Foundation is based in Minneapolis in Minnesota but has 50 volunteers across America and Africa providing live-changing and inspiring assistance to many people.

Displaced people include many children separated from their parents, and left without anyone to care for them. Many of these children are captured to become part of the armed forces, and the children who’ve escaped the armed groups are in need of protection and care.

Harweyn provides skills training, housing, schools, health care, food and water access, safety and support for vulnerable women and children.

Harweyn Successes

Harweyn’s efforts have resulted in the building of housing, camps, community halls and schools; providing business skills training; creating water sources; and increasing health care resources in hospitals, clinics and mobile outreach services.

Harweyn has reached more than 36,000 people to date, supporting the livelihoods of Somalians and Kenyans and clearing their path to become more productive, self-sustaining, and in good health.

Harweyn Funding

Harweyn depends on donations from individuals, organizations and government entities.

Please consider making a donation, which is tax-deductible in the United States.

Harweyn has received U.S. tax-exempt status under the federal 501(c)(3) code.
